Google Compute Engine Free Tier

A small persistent Linux service or self-managed agent that needs to remain running instead of relying on short-lived functions.

Facts

Free allowance
One eligible e2-micro VM-month
Plan limits
30 GB-months standard disk · 1 GB eligible egress
Storage
30 GB-months of standard persistent disk are included in the eligible Free Tier regions. Other disk classes, excess capacity, and backups are not assumed free.
Account
Requires a Google Cloud project with an active Cloud Billing account. A payment method and billing activation are relevant to continued use after the introductory trial.
Retention
No forced sleep or fixed session expiry is documented for an eligible active non-preemptible VM. If a trial billing account closes without upgrade, running resources stop and data may be deleted.
Custom domain
Users can manage their own DNS and hosting configuration; no free registered domain or managed domain entitlement was established.
Password protection
No managed shared website-password feature verified. Authentication must be implemented and operated by the VM owner.
Billing
An active billing account is required. The eligible VM allowance has no charge within its defined limits, but a Paid billing account is automatically charged for out-of-allowance usage. Introductory trial credit is not the basis of this recommendation.
Execution
One non-preemptible e2-micro VM-month, calculated as monthly hours across eligible instances; supports a continuously running self-managed operating system and server process.

Worth knowing

Active billing account required. Only eligible US regions and standard disks qualify. External IPv4 addresses have separate hourly charges, so an ordinary public IPv4 web server is not zero-cost merely because the VM qualifies. IPv6/private-network setup and excess egress, disks and other resources need independent checks. Introductory trial credits are excluded.

How we match

Choose the kind of thing you made and the features you need. The results respond to the capabilities recorded in our directory.

Each result explains its fit or mismatch. Unverified commercial-use permission is marked for a terms check. Unknown free features don’t count as confirmed fits.

Apps can run in the browser, as serverless functions, or on a persistent server. The second step changes with your choice: web pages or file links for sites and files, runtime options for apps. For agents and tools, choose an agent service, MCP server, or code sandbox. A sandbox or serverless endpoint is not a continuously running process. In each group, select several to see hosts that support any selected option. Leave them blank to explore broadly; your agent can check the runtime before publishing. Docs & media candidates also need an exact file-format and size check. Commercial mode removes records with documented personal or non-production restrictions; it does not certify permission on other hosts.

Open a host to read its limits and sources. The agent brief packages your choices and those limits into instructions you can paste into your agent. It does not publish anything.

Each record has its own review date (October 11–12, 2026); deployments, privacy, support, and uptime have not been tested. There are no paid placements or affiliate links in this edition.
