Google Apps Script Web Apps
Small webhook receivers, form processors, and Google Sheets-integrated apps with sporadic HTTP traffic.
Facts
- Free allowance
- 6-minute runs · 20K outbound calls/day
- Plan limits
- Consumer-account quotas include 6 minutes per execution, 20,000 outbound URL Fetch calls/day, 90 minutes/day of triggered-script runtime, 30 concurrent executions per user, and 500 KB script-properties storage. No single documented general web app requests/day cap was verified.
- Storage
- Script Properties storage limit 500 KB per property store, 9 KB per value. Spreadsheet and Google Drive integration available but with independently documented storage and quotas; no bundled persistent DB assumed.
- Account
- Google personal account; deploying apps may require authorizing requested OAuth scopes and configuring public/authorized-user access. Separate Google Cloud billing requirements not established for ordinary Apps Script web apps.
- Retention
- Published web deployments do not have a defined automatic free expiry; quotas reset daily (generally 24 hours after first request). Account, authorization, script ownership and Google policy may affect continued access.
- Custom domain
- A script.google.com / script.googleusercontent.com hosted app URL is provided. Free custom domain mapping and registered domain not established.
- Password protection
- Web app access can require Google sign-in/OAuth; this is not a shared visitor password. No password-gated public endpoint entitlement verified.
- Billing
- Consumer accounts have recurring Apps Script quotas. Exceeding a quota stops execution with an exception, rather than buying extra Apps Script usage. External Google Cloud services and APIs can incur separate costs.
- Execution
- Google-managed synchronous doGet/doPost endpoint and scheduled JavaScript runs. Supports HtmlService for browser UI; no permanently running process.
Worth knowing
Strict 6-minute maximum per execution; additional Google service quotas apply and may be changed without notice. Apps Script is not a general Node.js or long-running server host.
