Cloudinary Image & Video API
Hosting the images and short video clips used by a small public website or product prototype.
Facts
- Free allowance
- 25 shared credits/month
- Plan limits
- Storage, transformations and transfer share one allowance
- Storage
- One credit corresponds to 1 GB of managed storage, but the 25-credit allowance is shared with bandwidth and processing rather than providing an independent 25 GB storage grant.
- Account
- Cloudinary account required. The Image & Video API Free plan does not require a credit card.
- Retention
- Assets are retained while the account remains active within its allocation. Accounts that remain disabled may eventually lose stored assets; no ordinary fixed asset expiry was established.
- Custom domain
- CNAME custom-domain support is listed for a paid Advanced plan, not the Free offering.
- Password protection
- Free shared viewer-password entitlement was not established. Advanced authentication options appear in paid-plan descriptions.
- Billing
- Free forever with no card; 25 shared credits. The Free plan issues warnings and can disable service after repeated over-limit usage rather than establishing an automatic paid overage entitlement.
- Execution
- Managed file upload, transformation, and CDN delivery only. No custom application process, user-owned MCP server, or agent sandbox execution.
Worth knowing
Media/file delivery only, not website or backend hosting. Storage, transformations and bandwidth share 25 credits: not three separate free quotas. Continued over-limit usage can disable Free service. PDF/ZIP and arbitrary-file delivery may have additional account restrictions; verify your exact format. No user-hosted MCP server or sandbox.
